Serge Lutens

A polymath creative figure, Serge Lutens has worked across fashion design, perfumery, hairstyling, photography, and filmmaking. Born in France in 1942, he started his professional life as a hairstyling apprentice in Lille, simultaneously beginning to explore cosmetics and the photographic medium. The 1960s brought Lutens to Paris, where he served as a makeup artist for Vogue magazine and collaborated with the era's leading photographers and models. In 1967, the house of Christian Dior tapped him to develop a cosmetics collection, further broadening his already diverse creative portfolio.
