Mario Prada laid the foundation for this prestigious Italian fashion house in 1913. Together with his brother Martino, he opened Fratelli Prada, a leather goods and luggage shop in Milan. Leadership passed through the family, first to Mario's daughter Luisa, and then to her daughter Miuccia Prada, who took the reins in 1978. The brand's modern identity and global stature have been shaped primarily under Miuccia's visionary creative direction.
