Shyamala Maisondieu
Shyamala Maisondieu is a Malaysian-born perfumer of Malay-Indian heritage who works at Givaudan, one of the world's leading fragrance houses. After earning an engineering degree in London, she redirected her career toward perfumery, training at Givaudan's prestigious schools in Grasse and Argenteuil, France. Her creations span a wide range of styles and brands, from the bold femininity of Tom Ford Velvet Orchid to the modern icon Lancôme Idôle (a collaboration with Adriana Medina and Nadège Le Garlantezec). Other notable compositions include Aquolina Pink Sugar and Carolina Herrera Very Good Girl. She describes herself as a citizen of the world and has spoken publicly about overcoming gender discrimination in the fragrance industry, championing diversity and collaborative creation as core values in her work.
