Raymond Chaillan
Raymond Chaillan was born in Nice in 1935 and grew up in Barrême, where his grandfather's lavender fields and beehives gave him an early and intimate connection to natural scents. He trained as a chemical engineer before entering the fragrance industry with Antoine Chiris in Grasse and then in Paris. In 1969 he moved to Roure Bertrand Dupont in Paris, going on to work at both Firmenich and Dragoco.
In 1988, Chaillan was appointed Director of Perfumery Research at J&E Sozio, and in 1993 he became Director at Argeville. He served as President of the Société Française des Parfumeurs from 1995 to 1997. His extensive catalogue of creations includes Yves Saint Laurent Opium, Cacharel Anaïs Anaïs, Molyneux Quartz, Boucheron Pour Homme, Givenchy III, and Parfum d'Hermès.
