Mark Buxton
Mark Buxton was born in England and raised in Germany, and his entry into perfumery came by an unlikely route: at age 21, he appeared on a German television game show where he and a friend successfully identified hundreds of fragrances in a blind test, impressing representatives from Haarmann & Reimer who invited him into their Paris training program. He went on to build a career spanning more than 25 years, creating around 150 commercial fragrances.
His most celebrated early work was the original Comme des Garçons fragrance in 1994, which helped launch the brand into the niche perfume world, followed by Comme des Garçons 2. He has also created for Givenchy, Versace, Van Cleef & Arpels, Paco Rabanne, Cartier, and Burberry. He later founded his own independent label, Mark Buxton Perfumes, based in Paris.
