Jean-Christophe Herault is a French perfumer who grew up immersed in fragrance through his father's work producing fragrance concentrates. After studying chemistry at university, he interned in a laboratory in Grasse, where he met Pierre Bourdon and persuaded him to become his mentor. Under Bourdon's guidance, Herault studied art history at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

Herault worked at Fragrance Resources before the company was acquired by IFF, where he was promoted to Vice President Perfumer in 2023. He is best known as the creator of Creed Aventus, the 2010 release that became a cultural phenomenon and one of the most influential men's fragrances of its era.
