Gérard Anthony was born in 1944 and discovered his passion for fragrance at the age of fourteen during a summer spent in Grasse, where the scent of jasmine in the morning air proved revelatory. At seventeen he took a position as a laboratory technician at Lautier, immersing himself in raw materials, and later joined Dragoco, moving from the south of France to Germany and then Paris.
He won the Young Perfumer prize from the Société Technique des Parfumeurs in 1974, then co-created the enduring classic Azzaro pour Homme in 1978 at Naarden. He subsequently collaborated for more than twenty years with Firmenich, working for luxury brands including Balenciaga, Hugo Boss, Lalique, and Paco Rabanne.
