Fanny Bal
Fanny Bal was born in Paris in 1988 and her vocation emerged after reading Patrick Süskind's novel Le Parfum. She trained in chemistry before enrolling at ISIPCA in Versailles. There she was selected by master perfumer Dominique Ropion to become his apprentice and assistant, a mentorship that included working alongside Ropion on the reorganization of IFF's in-house perfumery school.
Bal joined IFF in 2015 and quickly established herself as one of French perfumery's most promising voices. Her breakthrough came with Sale Gosse for Frédéric Malle in 2017. She went on to co-create Givenchy L'Interdit, a major commercial launch inspired by Hubert de Givenchy's original 1957 fragrance for Audrey Hepburn, as well as Givenchy Irresistible and Mugler Alien Fusion. In 2025 she joined the Givaudan team.
