Ben Gorham
Ben Gorham is a Swedish-Indian-Canadian entrepreneur and creative director born to a Canadian father and an Indian mother. He grew up between Toronto, New York, and Stockholm, and pursued a career in professional basketball in Europe before visa issues forced a change of direction. He studied painting, history, and photography at the Stockholm Art School. A chance meeting with perfumer Pierre Wulff in 2004 introduced him to fragrance.
Gorham founded Byredo in Stockholm in 2006, collaborating with perfumers Jerome Epinette and Olivia Giacobetti to develop the debut collection, which included the now-iconic Gypsy Water. Under his direction, Byredo grew into one of the most influential niche fragrance houses of the 21st century. In 2022, Spanish conglomerate Puig acquired a majority stake in the brand.
